About me –
I’ve always been a bit of a therapist – even when I was a kid. I’d listen to people’s problems,and I was so invested in helping, I ended up starting my own “business.” I grabbed an old cardboard box, cut a hole for coins, and strapped it to myself. I called it the Moana Box. This way, I could make a bit of pocket money by monetising my parents’ bickering. My passion for counselling really grew out of my own experiences with mental health struggles, neurodiversity, and trauma. I saw the true value in therapy: having someone who genuinely cared, listened, and understood what I was going through.
What drives me –
Therapy gave me hope
– something I had lost along the way.
It’s why I became a Social Worker and counsellor. I spent years struggling on my own, not even realising I was dealing with a clinical disorder. I also learnt that not everyone’s as happy as they seem – most of us are wearing a mask of some kind. I want to return the favour. I want to offer that same gift of hope, relief, and understanding that my therapist gave me.
I’ve been working in the field for over 10 years now, and I truly love what I do. So much so, I decided to start my own practice, using the most influential approach I know – lived experience.
